Fifth Grade

Millennia Elementary School is proud to be a digital school site! We are very excited about this coming school year and what we will be accomplishing. It is our desire to educate your child through many challenging experiences and to have fun. Below are some expectations particular to fifth grade that you should be aware of.

  • AVID: Fifth grade students at Millennia Elementary School will continue to participate in the AVID program this school year. The AVID Binder is a key component in the program. Your child will be monitored through the AVID program based off their organization and utilization of the binder.

  • Planners: The goal of the planners is to help your child stay organized, reflect on their learning and communicate what we they are doing on a daily basis in class. Planners are expected to be signed each night by a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even an older sibling.

  • Homework: Students will be given homework nightly and it is due the next day unless otherwise noted. Reading 30 minutes is nightly homework. Students are responsible for writing down homework in their planner. Consistency of homework being completed is noted on the report card.

  • FSA: Students in fifth grade are required to take the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) test in Writing , and in English / Language Arts and Math. Specific tests dates will be announced. For more information, please visit the FSA link at www.fsassessments.org. The fifth graders will also be taking the FCAT 2.0 in Science.
